Taylor - 8th Grade: First, I have to stay by saying that Rising Stars was a good experience and I learned a lot of new things, and a lot about myself. I can say the things I learned were how to set goals, be a better person, be confident in myself, and keep a positive attitude. Also how to set my goals and how I can go to accomplish my goals.
Also, Mr. Tom is a very fun, cool and nice person. And he made me laugh and he helped me set my goals, and plan for the future. Also we leaned a lot of new and fun stuff in Rising Stars that will help me long in life, and know my life I can help other people with some of the stuff I have learned.
We also learned SMARTY, which means specific, measurable, achievable, realistically high, target date and yours. We learned this to help learn how to set goals. Also, we learned this to help us become better people, more responsible, and more independent.
Rising Stars has been a great experience, and I am going to miss this class but it is preparing me to graduate, go to high school, graduate, get in to college, graduate and get a good job.
Principal - Middle School: The implementation of the Rising Stars program has been a tremendous asset to our school. It is rare to find middle grade students genuinely excited about anything. On an unsolicited basis they shared how much they enjoyed the program and looked forward to attending. The teachers remarked about the growth in maturity resulting from attending the program. Many parents remarked that the students displayed growth as individuals during this period. I am appreciative of the character education, organization skills, public speaking skills and a cadre of skills students mastered resulting from Rising Stars.
The program's success was based on content as well as the exemplary instructors. Each instructor was a mentor to our students and displayed care and concern for the student's lives outside of the classroom experience. Fine teaching, excellent contents coupled with a good rapport with the students resulted in a great year for our students. I highly recommend the program to any school community.
