FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why was Summit Leadership Initiative started? A small group of citizens
recognized the need to empower young people to grow into successful teen years and adulthood. In today’s busy society many students do not have proper access to role models and mentors who are completely dedicated to the success of the child.
Who can participate? Currently, we facilitate 3 different programs, Leadership 101, Leadership 201 and Rising Stars in four St. Louis area schools. Our goal is to be in ten schools by the end of the 2010-2011 school year, with at least two programs in other cities in the country. Please email us at tom@summit-leadership.org if your school or organization is itnerested in becoming an SLI partner.
What do you do during the sessions? Each session lasts approximately one hour. During that time students are actively engaged in exploring their attitudes,
developing new skills and setting goals that will lead to personal success in their lives. Activities include teambuilding exercises, journaling, goal setting, communication skills and other actions that allow a child to explore and achieve their full potential.
Do the programs really work? YES! Please go to our “What People are Saying Page to read comments from students who have successfully completed our programs, and educators who have partnered with us to bring SLI programs to their schools.
How is Summit Leadership Initiative funded? We work with a number of local and national foundations, businesses and generous individuals to raise funds for SLI. By successfully doing so, we can provide our programs free of charge to our schools and institutional partners.
How can I get involved? We are always looking for enthusiastic capable volunteers, particularly in the areas of marketing and public relations, special events, and mentoring. Please call or contact our Executive Director, Tom Schweizer at 314-283-3418 or tom@summit-leadership.org
